FAS Learning Space Renovations
Welcome
The FAS Learning Space Renovation website is designed specifically for the FAS community. It offers detailed information about current, upcoming, and completed renovation projects managed by the FAS Office of Physical Resources and Planning (OPRP). These projects involve major upgrades to lecture halls, classrooms, teaching labs, and libraries. Most of the spaces featured on this site are part of the Registrar’s portfolio and can be reserved by any FAS affiliate.
OPRP collaborates closely with Academic Technology for FAS, the Bok Center for Teaching & Learning, Education Support Services, and the Registrar’s Office (FAS & DCE) to update a select number of FAS learning spaces each year. These updates are designed to meet the changing needs of instructors and students. Most renovations occur over the summer, but more extensive building renovation projects can take a year or more.
During the early planning stage of the renovation project, the design team gathered input from faculty. Surveys and focus groups helped the team understand faculty teaching methods. This provided insight into how building features like technology, space layout, and furniture selection could best support instruction.
The FAS learning space portfolio includes diverse room types for varied teaching and learning styles. Larger lecture halls and smaller flexible classrooms or seminar rooms are available. In recent years, there has been a recognized need for more adaptable classrooms. Specifically, classrooms equipped with additional writing surfaces and modernized audiovisual systems enhance the teaching and learning experience.
